Is this the right group for a newcomer to A.A.? I'm 2 weeks into the program. If not, any
recommendations?

Thanks

Probably if you read through the varied posts here, you'll get a better
answer to your question than any individual here can give you.

there are NO NEWSGROUPS that are considered AA.
ALT.RECOVERY.AA "can be" a resource for you, but i highly recommend:

http://www.aa-intergroup.org/ for the "real thing" online!

congrats to you and feel free to email me if i can help,
rosie

At the present time the majority of postings on alt-recovery.AA have
nothing to do with alcoholism. That NG also appears to attract a lot
of trolls. Having said that, it's my experience that posts do appear
there that could prove useful to someone interested in learning how to
recover from alcoholism. Similarly, it's my experience, that
potentially useful posts appear on this NG -
alt.recovery.addiction.alcoholism.

Cucumber,

If you want to talk only with AA folk maybe www.e-aa.org could be of
interest.

I wish you well.

About the only place you'll find consistent real recovery online is on
alt.recovery.aa - that place rocks with serenity!

From my experience this is a damn good resource to learn about
alcoholism. In that respect, also from my experience it surpasses
most AA meetings.

However, it does not replace AA meetings nor offer recovery from the
alcoholic condition. Information alone is not even sufficient for an
alcoholic to stay sober, let alone recover.

when was the last time you attended a meeting that had such vicious
folks sitting around just waiting to pounce on others?
have you discussed this with your sponsor?

Having spent more than a year here and also on alt.recovery.aa,
there's no doubt in my mind that alt.recovery.addiction.alcoholism has
produced considerably more posts that have been on-topic for NG's
whose name suggests that their prime concern is issues relating to
recovery from alcoholism.
