Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. What DNA? There was a statement that AA des not ever seek improvement because it does not need one. This can only mean either that AA is _perfect_ or that AA does not really aim to help alcoholics as best as possible. Sicne the former is impossible is principle, the latter must be true. I don't see where human DNA can be plugged in here. 100% of medical research DID progresse tremendously during past 60 years. And 100% of, it should be noted, deals with "human DNA". HP-G |

"positive experiences of imagery, symbolic experience and the numinosum could facilitate the immune system by turning on the interleukin gene and facilitate healing. This prediction has now come true. Castes et al. (1999) demonstrated how a psychotherapeutic program facilitating self-esteem, guided imagery and relaxation in asthmatic children was able to reduce their symptoms by turning on interleukin-2 mRNA (and by implication its gene) and a number of other healing factors of the immune system. It would be difficult to overestimate the significance of this research. It clearly demonstrates how psyche can modulate soma at the most fundamental level of gene expression. I view this as the modern realization of the ancient alchemical quest to facilitate healing of the physical body via developments on the psychological and spiritual levels. The immune system is widely interpreted as being able to distinguish between self (our normal cells) and non-self (bacteria and viruses) in facilitating healing. In a profound sense this new psychoneuroimmunological research provides a model of how we can create healing rituals to evoke numinous experiences to facilitate activity dependent gene expression and neurogenesis that is the molecular basis for healing relationships between consciousness, psyche, soma, and Jung's concept of the Self." |

Rather different fromt the Model T Ford, because people wanted to improve on the design. Y'see, when it came to a comfortable ride, in-car entertainment, cold-starting, etc. it didn't work at all well. AA could be improved. But the risk with "improvement" is making matters worse, not better. -- Blue Moon |
