OT: 2004 Blue Moon

"When does the 2004 Blue Moon occur?
July or August, depending on your time zone."
"On July 31st, there's going to be a Blue Moon."

It's time to celebrate Blue Moon! : )

I never knew what a blue moon was until just a couple days ago.

I have a gorgeous view out my back window. Hopefully it doesn't cloud
up.

Congratulations, Blue Moon..

"According to modern folklore, a Blue Moon is the second full moon in a
calendar month. Usually months have only one full moon, but occasionally
a second one sneaks in. Full moons are separated by 29 days, while most
months are 30 or 31 days long; so it is possible to fit two full moons
in a single month. This happens every two and a half years, on average."

....

There was a time, not long ago, when people saw blue moons almost every
night. Full moons, half moons, crescent moons--they were all blue,
except some nights when they were green.

The time was 1883, the year an Indonesian volcano named Krakatoa
exploded. Scientists liken the blast to a 100-megaton nuclear
bomb. Fully 600 km away, people heard the noise as loud as a cannon
shot. Plumes of ash rose to the very top of Earth's atmosphere. And the
moon turned blue."

This Blue Moon happens along rather more frequently

The history to my chosen identity is from when I first started posting
here. I was in a state of depression, had quit drinking but was doing
nothing to recover, and so I felt "Blue". In wondering about an
anonymous Id (just in case my next-door neighbour happened to be
watching ....) the Showaddywaddy song "Blue Moon" started playing in
my head.

That was about 4 years ago.

Wow. The blue moon, which is very orange, has just come over the
horizon. There are very cool low lying clouds preceding a thunderstorm
moving through. The thunderstorm is still over the horizon, but there's
plenty of flash lightning, and I can even hear a little thunder.

There must be a God. I think he's inside me.

....Hmm, nope. It's just indigestion.

Are you sure that the gorgous view above your horizon isn't merely a
creation of chance, while the God inside of you may be merely
experimenting with sadism?

Yes, but we usually don't celebrate you, so this is your night to shine
too : )

Tonight, Blue just means special!

I've just been outdoors to see the Blue Moon come over the mountain.
It's very bright and there's lightening streaking across the skies as
another storm approaches. It's all so beautiful!

Nah, no indigestion, just bad humors...

I like the idea of scientist god, though! Funny to picture him trying
figure out how this damn creation works ... "oops crap that wasn't
right".

Hahahaha.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God
created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 6:5-6 "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in
the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart
was only evil continually.
And it Repented the Lord that He made man on the earth, and it
grieved Him at His heart."

When drinking, I used to enjoy navel gazing @ visions of a
particularly unhealthy, sadistic child, arriving home from cosmic
kindergarten shouting, "Mum, look! I created my own universe today!"

Today, I equally enjoyed watching the navel gazing @
