To Re-hab or not to Re-hab?
Hi all
My stepson has sort of accepted going to re-hab as an option. Does anyone here know if re-hab work and what is the scenario for it to work, if so? Kind regards Mias |

According to the Sun, this time around, Wood enrolled himself for a detoxification program after he went out of control in a restaurant. The 57-year old artist reportedly got so drunk that he crawled under the tables in the restaurant and tried to bite off people's ankles. "The problem for him is always when the Stones come off tour - he finds it hard to occupy his time. He realized it had got hold of him again when he was at a restaurant with his wife Jo and Kate Moss. But his frame of mind is very positive. Ronnie is getting a lot out of his treatment," the report quoted an insider as saying. (ANI)" |

Re: To Re-hab or not to Re-hab?
For me, re-hab has been effective means of coming off the drink. It entailed
a 2-week course of Librium at a local recovery centre. The first time I lasted 7 months before drinking again, the second 6 years and the third 3 months. Although, the third time was 3 months ago and I'm still not drinking. Hopefully, I'll last a bit longer this time, lol. -- J Mias wrote: > Hi all > My stepson has sort of accepted going to re-hab as an option. Re: To Re-hab or not to Re-hab?
Mias,
It worked for me. But you have to WANT to be there. If you're there to humor and please others, the benefit will be lost. Also, once returning from rehab, a good after-care program is always a good idea. For it to be successful, support from family and friends is a must and will help. Also, you may want to consider a detox center. Depending on the severity and amount of consumption. If withdrawal symptoms are present when he stops drinking; shaking, sweating, dizziness, nausea, loss of appetite, etc. you may want to consider this. It is very dangerous to stop drinking without medical supervision. Seizures can take place in certain cases. In certain cases, death can even occur. Good luck with everything, Mias. Re: To Re-hab or not to Re-hab?
Thank you all for advice. Will run it one day at a time. It is bad when
alcohol starts ruining your life once more without drinking self! It is 6 am now and my stepson went god knows where last night, without money, returning 3 am and sloshed. My wife and I can only take so much lying awake and wondering what is going on. Kind regards Mias "Prop Rod" <proprod1@netzero.net> wrote in message news:it5og0t05os7rq447g3cdnb7ucgiec77oo@4ax.com... > Mias, > > It worked for me. But you have to WANT to be there. Re: To Re-hab or not to Re-hab?
mias,
why don't you and your wife talk to someone at your local treatment center, for some advise about "the family" of alcoholics, and the help and support they need! -- just another republican witch hunt! http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/080104A.shtml "Mias" <emiasno@spamnetactivetome.co.za> wrote in message news:cehqok$6t0$1@ctb-nnrp2.saix.net... : Thank you all for advice. It seems to me that, in some ways, this can drive a person more insane than if they were drinking... at least booze took off the "edge" for a while If junior is big enough to go out alone at night and get sloshed, he's big enough to feed, clothe and house himself. Until that day arrives, I'm afraid that even with the best of intentions what your wife and yourself are doing is called "enabling". Until that day arrives, you can expect more sleepless nights. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to "let go". -- Blue Moon |
