and a reading from an AA co-founderer
"We all had the same problem; we all did the same things; we all get the same results, in proportion to our zeal and enthusiasm and stick-to-it-iveness." --------------- Vigilance “Is there anything I can do to make myself Enlightened?” “As little as you can do to make the sun rise in the morning.” “Then of what use are the spiritual exercises you prescribe?” “To make sure you are not asleep when the sun begins to rise.” |

Hey rock In regards to your quest about offering your services it seems you have answered your own question. Figgered you would. Re: and a reading from an AA co-founderer
Once, long ago, when I was "stopped on willpower" for seven years, I met a
young guy who admired my not drinking and 'wisdom' so much that he litterally phoned me every night, trunk call, for advice and support. I gave him the best I got. The problem started when I started drinking again and did not want to share that with him because I thought he might doubt my advice then. I did not think that strange or dishonest at that time. Life is strange sometimes... That might have been the quality of 'honesty' i've heard talked about - learning the difference when to tell the truth and when to remain silent. Bill Wilson lost his temper constantly, but realizing what a role model he had become, he was careful about his public behavior and reputation. That's only kind, to restrict those enjoyable self-righteous benders, for the benefit of others. I've seen a few pass off a Big Book on someone on their way out for a bender. Didn't hurt them any, Big Book never promised sobriety to everyone, just everyone who followed the directions. In fact, it suggests quite clearly that many of us might drink again, and encourages us to do so at the outset. Further, i have made fast friends at bars during my drinking days whenever mental compulsion, physical craving, and spiritual tools became the topics of discussion. Sleep tight. --------------- "Perfectionists, they say, are either full of conceit because they fancy they have reached some impossible goal, or else they are swamped in self-condemnation because they have not done so. Yet it is not the fault of great ideals that they are sometimes misused, and so become shallow excuses for guilt, rebellion and pride. On the contrary, we cannot grow very much unless we constantly try to envision what the eternal spiritual values are. This surely means that we ought to look toward 'God's perfection as our guide rather than as a goal to be reached in any foreseeable time." >"rockhound" <helo@null.com> wrote in message >news:hiahc01artsf9k6dqa1akrc5s16vqutlvj@4ax.com.. . >> "John Droge" <jhdroge@earthlink.net> wrote: >> >> > >> >"rockhound" <helo@null.com> wrote in message >> >news:s18hc0hvba71g6org15lu2ekeigcnhpqlf@4ax.com.. . >> >> "John Droge" <jhdroge@earthlink.net> wrote: >> >> >> >> > >> >> >"rockhound" <helo@null.com> wrote in message >> >> >> Vigilance >> >> >> "Is there anything I can do to make myself Enlightened?" >> >> >> "As little as you can do to make the sun rise in the morning." >> >> >> "Then of what use are the spiritual exercises you prescribe?" >> >> >> "To make sure you are not asleep when the sun begins to rise." >> >> >Hey rock >> >> >In regards to your quest about offering your services it seems you >have >> >> >answered your own question. it still sound like your "running your own show"...................... how has "your way" worked for you thus far? -- rosie ..........while reagan rarely missed an opportunity to invoke America's greatness, bush rarely misses a chance to scare and divide us. ................................a.huffington "rockhound" <helo@null.com> wrote in message news:hiahc01artsf9k6dqa1akrc5s16vqutlvj@4ax.com... : "John Droge" <jhdroge@earthlink.net> wrote: : : > : >"rockhound" <helo@null.com> wrote in message : >news:s18hc0hvba71g6org15lu2ekeigcnhpqlf@4ax.com.. . : >> "John Droge" <jhdroge@earthlink.net> wrote: : >> : >> > : >> >"rockhound" <helo@null.com> wrote in message : >> >> Vigilance : >> >> "Is there anything I can do to make myself Enlightened?" : >> >> "As little as you can do to make the sun rise in the morning." : >> >> "Then of what use are the spiritual exercises you prescribe?" : >> >> "To make sure you are not asleep when the sun begins to rise." : >> >Hey rock : >> >In regards to your quest about offering your services it seems you have : >> >answered your own question. Re: and a reading from an AA co-founderer
Reminds me - another time I was pissed out of my cotton picking mind
sidewalking and this guy came past and I accosted him verbosiously as was my way when pissed. We spoke and he said he had a few and he feels real shit because he was supposed to chair an AA meeting that night. That was before I stumbled into AA. I CONVINCED him there and then that he owes the group an apology in his current state and he left and said that was what he would do. I sidewinded sidewalked on to the next pub where I might still have been conditionally welcome. My God but it is a good thing that I remember all the seven kinds that happened to me selectively otherwise it would swamp one. Goooodnight for real now Mias "rockhound" <helo@null.com> wrote in message news:bqbhc0h0uptp658d1a9l924eto03l23ecj@4ax.com... > "Mias" <emiasno@spamnetactivetome.co.za> wrote: > > >Once, long ago, when I was "stopped on willpower" for seven years, I met a > >young guy who admired my not drinking and 'wisdom' so much that he > >litterally phoned me every night, trunk call, for advice and support.
