Why I challenge Bobs comments
I faced the reality of my actions when I worked the steps and took action to
correct them, but Bob has refused to use these spiritual tools that AA offers (which is his choice) but for some unknown reason he relentlessly attacks the AA program. I bear no hatred towards Bob or other individuals here. In meetings people will who have such issues either go back to continue their drinking or clean up this type of twisted thinking that Bob share with us by working the steps with a sponsor that help them to be honest. In this detached forum I feel that the news group has an obligation to present facts and our personal experiences about recovery and I do not think that it is wise to allow the slanderous comments about AA, Smart Recovery, other recovery programs, or ANY individual who posts here to go unchallenged to long. My experience in recovery is in AA and that is what I share. I have no need to slander other recovery groups, hospitals, or institutions, but I will not ignore comments like Bob has been making about AA without challenging him from time to time. I may aggressively respond to Bobs comments, but I do not hate him I just will not ignore his false statements of fact. Is this wrong, I feel it is not. Don't Drink, Go to Meetings, and Work the Steps? This is what I know, this is what I share, and this is what has kept me sober and free for the last eleven years. Julie |

Jeez, given I've posted positively about the simple AA program ever since I have been online, and detailed my experience taking each one of those steps, you're an incredible fucking liar. http://blank.org/link/?q=1082078891 Bob |

Re: Why I challenge Bobs comments
Fighting with Bob is making you unwell. It's not worth the effort.
He is not worth the effort. Nobody deserves that kind of power over your feelings. Is someone quietly putting ideas into your head? I would urge you to either give it a rest and turn your thoughts to someone you can help (Step 10), or do some other Step work with it. The alternative is that you will drink. From http://aainsa.org/ForTodAAy/Nov/11Rationalization.htm " "Rationalization": Rationalization is defined in the story "Freedom from Bondage" as "giving a socially acceptable reason for socially unacceptable behavior, and socially unacceptable behavior is insanity." (Big Book, p. 551.) One of the definitions in The Oxford American Dictionary for rationlization is finding false reasons for irrational or unworthy behavior. " -- Blue Moon |

How it works says ""Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path" not the Godless path you have chosen to take Bob. Yes, you recommend using the steps, but the way you have chosen to use them violate the basic reason the big Book was even written. Page 44: "Lack of power, that was our dilemma. we had to find a power by which we could live, and it had to be a Power greater than ourselves. Obviously. But where and how were we to find this Power? Well, thatīs exactly what this book is about. Its main object is to enable you to find a Power greater than yourself which will solve your problem. That means we have written a book which we believe to be spiritual as well as moral. And it means, of course, that we are going to talk about God." You have bastardized AA's big book to eliminate God from it and you think you have worked the steps? Try building a house and ignoring the blue prints Bob. Sure you might end up with something you can live in, but its not what the designers intended. Your use of the Big Book negates the main object of the Big Book and leaves you with nothing but your own shadows of what could have been. Big Book Again: "Once more: The alcoholic at certain times has no effective mental defense against the first drink. Except in a few cases, neither he nor any other human being can provide such a defense. His defense must come from a Higher Power." Based on this comment your relapse is just waiting to happen Bob. No higher power = no defense. Saying you have worked the steps the way you have is NOT AA. If it keeps you sober fine, but saying you have what AA was intended to give alcoholics is just not true. You can not work the steps of AA without finding a higher power greater than yourself. This whole thing reminds me of when I used my intelligence to lie to myself and others about my drinking. The foolee and the fooler have the same IQ and it's easy to create justifications for our actions or lack of them when all we hear is our own thoughts. More Big Book comments: "Here are thousands of men and women, worldly indeed. They flatly declare that since they have come to believe in a Power greater than themselves, to take a certain attitude toward that Power, and to do certain simple things. There has been a revolutionary change in their way of living and thinking. In the face of collapse and despair, in the face of the total failure of their human resources, they found that a new power, peace, happiness, and sense of direction flowed into them. This happened soon after they wholeheartedly met a few simple requirements." You haven't worked the steps as designed and since you have yet to meet the requirements mentioned above and your posts display the results of your lack of power, peace, and happiness, that you express nearly every day in this news group. You posted most of these comments over the last 10 days and a few are taken from your list how you support AA the members in it Bob: Are you confusing intolerance with gratification? Fortunately for me, having left AA, I have no need to force myself into the hypocrisy that "love and tolerance" is my code. Bob Hope you have noted that Bill W, the architect of AA anti anger utopianism, was himself engulfed by long term suicidal depression. Nevertheless, if you insist on repressing justifiable anger, rather than strive for a modicum of balance in expressing that anger; suppose we can only hope your prayers for me do in fact change YOU. Accommodating Bob. Nah, she thinks she knows why I left "the hive" but she doesn't have the slightest clue. The stupid bitch is probly so drugged she wouldn't know what a nerve was. Bob jeez, Blue, I never claimed I don't resent that ugly bitch's smarm, lies, and self promotion, in what used to be a relatively genuine newsgroup. Bleeding (self appointed) deacon Bob;-) Having survived anti depressant prescriptions, I have drawn my own conclusions about pharmaceutical companies, their bullshit, and their products. Bob The *only* requirement for AA membership being a desire to stop drinking, amongst other considerations, I have neither need nor intention to drink again, merely to qualify. Bob God is not caring for your sponsees in the best possible way, by removing your mouth from their scene? Bob Must be really tough on your "humility" What an insecure HP you turned out to be! Bob You sanctimonious shit, pretending to compassion for Julie, while keeping the flame wars going. Bob You are even a failure as a gossip merchant, apparently too drugged to come up with any merchandise. Bob Nah, I don't need to lie about AA with fucked up examples like you and rosie right here. Bob When, as a result of the steps, I temporarily abandoned power tripping, AA dependence, and all prescription drugs, my chronic depression permanently (so far) disappeared. However, given my post referred specifically to "rosie's" treasured drugs, yours is an exemplary simplistic response. Are you "one of those" who chooses to be whacked out on drugs, while trying to be snottily "holier than thou" about your drug dependence? Bob Faith that popping happy pills works, as long as pills are popped? Bob No wonder you will never be recovered. No wonder your happy pills keep "pooping." Bob Seems to me, in hindsight, the only way I could ever have accessed solutions most appropriate for me was by utilising the 12 steps; to start, and continue, clearing away the rubble of guilt, fears, and resentments that had overloaded my psyche for half a century. Why on earth are you waiting for a "sponsor" before you start "to get into the steps"? Bob In spite of your you're obviously projecting rosie. Are your happypills pooping again? Naive pursuit of happiness, with ensuant drug dependence, is your trip, not mine. Bob As long as you keep up the good works and repost, it will bypass rosie's vaunted killfile, and may give that smarmy bitch an appropriate resentment. Don't hold yer breath waiting though, hypocrisy like hers indicates a hide thicker than a rhino. Bob Rosie, when the going gets tough, exemplifies confusion about what is actually needed, while she is whacked into emotional anaesthesia by her treasured drugs. Rosie will probably never learn the difference between simplicity, and absurdity. Bob Why the fuck should anyone care what you think? Bob (p59) "These are the steps we took" Then on the next page we find, "No one among us has been able to maintain anything like perfect adherence to these principles" The way I read that was, having taken the steps, the principles revealed in taking them were not maintained with anything like perfection, by anyone. Seems to me that daily reprieve dependant on spiritual condition stuff is merely an egotistical attempt to explain the inexplicable. There are times I have stayed sober when I could not have been described as in healthy spiritual condition with even the most liberal of definitions. Bob Nah, I've posted enough how I got sobriety with the steps, without all the conceptual God bullshit. Bob This last comment of yours explains to me why you are the way you are Bob. I will not disturb you further concerning your attempt to work the steps without God and the results you have obtained in doing so. I pray that you will see what you have done to yourself someday and that you will be able to complete your journey in recovery. God is not a concept, Julie |

Maybe you were involved in a flame war Bob, but I was only partaking in a
discussion. I feel I have done my part concerning you and I have no plans on responding to your posts further. Actually, if you are telling the truth about the Hep C treatment,
there is a fellow posting daily next door at alt.recovery.aa, "ernie" <ernie@aa.com> who posted a few minutes ago about his avoiding HepC treatment. He might be grateful to hear of your experiences.
