Alcohol withdrawal is very often fatal - should never be done without
medical supervision, although I would agree that a pair of strongwilled
and long sober members using the 'weaning off' method, might be able to
prevent a seizure. Not recommended.

PS I carry two half litre cans of strong cider when going on an
emergency call. I tried it a few years ago with a small bottle of
Absoluut vodka. The bastard had it finished in 2 mouthfuls and recovered
before we got out of the parish. So much for a 20 mile drive to a
recovery centre.
