Well; see, I fried the board and now I'm using a very old
Pent I 133mhz which is "okay" for usenet but that's about
it. The processor can't handle the new active X and java
very well and 'errors out' and crashes regardless of the
driver configurations. I'm hooked in thru an ISP which
sues the Uni backbone which is very fast and it seems
a shame that I can't get much use of it.
So, this leaves me with a couple of different options.
One option is to find some really old RAM that will
fit into this old clunker and upgrade it to a whopping
64mb so that I can install either Slackware or SuSE
Linux --right now I'm running Win98; rather slowly.
The other option is to find a better board. I have
either a Duron or Palamino chip somewhere (AMD) and
if I could use them it'd be one hell of an improvement.
Also, any RAM, old hard-drives or VGA cards would
also be a big help.
