Ken and his cohorts aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. Firstly, to
come to a discussion forum with books for sale is amateurish at best.
Secondly, and most sadly, is that Ken may have some good ideas, and many
legitimate points
Basic principles of salesmanship 101 in the 21st century, the information
age, the "new age" the age of enlightenment are paramount. Are you listening
Ken?
The basic premise is that reasonably intelligent and able people can
entertain conflicting ideas simlutaneously. Ken does not understand this.
Secondly, never never never run down the alternatives, ie "the competition"
if you will. Most readers will immediately begin to think you are afraid or
resentful of them. Bad bad bad. Problem here is that their whole package is
predicated on running down AA.
By doing that, in a forum such as this, he allows his denigration of AA to
extend to AA members, and therefore attacking a huge chunk of his potential
market, or at least potential followers of his ideas. Those who are here who
are not XA members see him attacking those who are. Very bad from a
marketing perspective.
What would work much better for him IMO, it to use the "yes, but"
technique...
example," I got sober in AA and I believe in the steps..."
"yes, but that took you to a certain point in recovery, and although you may
want to stay with AA, have you considered...etc etc
