I'm not sure the program works at all if you replace "god" with "self"....
It seems to me that is perhaps most of the problem already. Just my take.
Anyway, I recommend you search for either Moderation Management groups or
Rational Recovery groups. Sounds like your looking for Rational Recovery
groups. Now generally these programs have a price involved, but knowing
alcoholics like I do, I cannot imagine it would take too long to find way us
to do most anything without paying for it.
Oh Yeah, There is a twelve step group in my town for agnostics and atheists,
too -- it's called Alcoholics Anonymous.
